"Let there be light"

"Laat er licht zijn"...,
oil on canvas - 40 x 50 cm
painted on location - Thurs 19 March 2015
SOLD

Luckily I happened to be on location, (just had finished working on a larger painting). On the top left, the Sun forcing its light through the thick layers of clouds, which have no choice but to surrender to the outburst of gases and heat coming from that life bearing Celestial body.  Thus the sky, all of a sudden broke open, creating these lovely exotic shapes. A true pleasure to witness, after days of overcast clouds. I couldn't help but think of the biblical phrase, "Let there be light"!  Thus this painting was created. On the horizon, the Hotel Atlantic, in Kijkduin, to the right of it, you can barely make out the communications tower, which has been planted in the so called "Zandmotor".
