Her name is Wilma and she can sell my paintings far better than I can! We were invited to take part in the Place D'Ary, art manifestation on the GrootHoofd square in Dordrecht. The weather was ideal for such an event, and really, is the reason why this scene was worth painting!  Talking about the play of sunlight. Lighting up the facades of the buildings, and the square.  Making its way onto bouncing off the multitude of people hinted at on the terras, and of course, most importantly, on the subject of this very work, the seller of the paintings.

Here you have yet another impression of the work I'm producing at the art event in Dordrecht. Couldn't resist painting this rather unique scene, with all the band members dressed uniformly, combined with the white of the canopy of the stage, makes the rhythm of this composition interesting. This painting was sold minutes after I signed it to....., you guessed it, an enthusiastic member of the band.

Het Dordtse Scheffersplein

The monument of Arij Scheffer(Dutch painter born in Dordrecht, 18th century), is the focal point of this scene. The square has been transformed into a Monmartre-type situation, with plein-air painters, street artists and musicians, entertaining the Dordrecht public, all thanks to the initiative of Academica, a local insurance company, and the city municipality. I choose to capture the situation at hand, thus opting for a long format canvas, to afford a somewhat panoramic view. Typical of downtown Dordrecht, known to be the oldest city in Holland, are the not so erect buildings. The play of light due to the shadows cast, help in giving definition to this city scape.
