Sunset at Noordwijk Aan Zee, with cloudy sky.

A peacefull moment at The North Sea
oil on canvas
24 x 30 cm
painted on location - Monday 15 June 2009

SOLD
private collection, Holland

I am just back from the Noordwijk painters festival, which began on Monday the 15th and ended on Sunday the 21st of June. This was the 2nd of 23 paintings I made in just 6 days! The variation of cool and warm greys in both the sky and water, plus the warm tones of light casted by the setting sun forcing its way through the mass of thick distant clouds, made it irresistable to paint. As is shown by the attached photo, this painting was picked up by some attentive person who placed in a high enough bid, at the auction which was administered by Sotheby's Amsterdam, on the last day of the festival.

Whahoo Alberto,
What a quiet and powerful composition! Love the way the sun describes the clods and foreground sea. WELL DONE seems like you had a magnificent week.
