The Old Haven, Gouda

Gouda Oude Haven
oil on canvas
40 x 30 cm
painted on location, Thursday 23 April 2009

Destroyed (painted over)

Can't get more Dutch than this. I even put in two Dutch flags, of which one is also being reflected on the water! I think the strenght of this painting lies right there, with the water. I was well into the painting and for some reason, it just wasn't pulling together. Finally decided to apply a dark green to cover most of the surface, and then started to paint all those reflections, and wave actions. That seems to have done the trick.

Not to be a ant-#@$@er, but the reflecting flag is upside down ;-)
